New Year, New You

I am not a big fan of New Year's Resolutions. I don't think people take them seriously and stick to them (honestly, I am one of them). But this year is different for me, I am in the middle of a HUGE transition in my life. Everything is different than it was before. My list isn't so much about making changes, as it is about focusing on living life with a purpose. I certainly won't be perfect, but I am really focusing on it.
  • Blog at least twice a week
  • Find my "creative"
  • Only buy things I really want/need
  • Actually decorate our apartment
  • Do more yoga
  • Be a better daughter, sister, and aunt (maybe by 2011, WIFE)
  • Stop the unnecessary stress
  • Call my friends/family more
  • Love more, pray more, smile more
Really looking forward to a good year.

My girls

Here was one small moment I shared with my nieces last weekend sitting in my bed. They are so cute in their matching outfits. Izabella-2 1/2 and Danielle-9 months.

Missing In Action

I have been a bit out of touch these last few days. My sister's husband was home on R&R from Afghanistan, so they came to visit me with my lovely nieces. My sister of course forgot to add that my 2 year old niece was recovering from a cold. At 2am, when I was working hard to get the babies back to sleep, I took several coughs directly to my face from Ms. Izabella. So, I have been sleeping and medicating since the minute they left.

But, we did have an amazing weekend together. Pictures coming soon.

A Little Texas in DC

My favorite restaurant in Texas is Chuy's. A cute little Tex-Mex restaurant in Austin (It has now expanded to have chains all over Texas, but the original is in Austin). There whole menu is amazing, but since I was 10 I have only ordered one thing, a "big as yo face" burrito with chicken and Deluxe Tomatillo Sauce. The sauce is what makes it all worth it. It is so delicious. Everything is homemade in the restaurant. There are very few Tex-Mex restaurants in Texas that don't make their own tortillas. And like most Mexican restaurants, you start off with the delicious chips and dip and always request the jalapeno ranch dip with your chips.I love Mexican food and could easily eat it every day. This is the only thing I miss terribly about Texas.

Well, I found a recipe for Deluxe Tomatillo Sauce and am going to give it a try tomorrow. My sister and her family are coming to town tomorrow and I already had plans to make enchiladas, so the sauce will be a fabulous addition. I'll let you know how it goes.

Let's Dream

Robin Thicke's new song Dreamworld is amazing. I absolutely love where he was going with this. He has a line in the song, "There would be no black or white, people would just treat my wife right." He is married to a gorgeous black woman. He goes on to say, "We could walk down in Mississippi and no one would look at us twice."

In his Dreamworld, he could tell Marvin Gaye, his father didn't want him to die. It was such an honest thing to say, I wanted to cry.

My cousin, brought this song to my attention and said it was the Pisces theme song and she is soooo right. We are both the poster children for Pisces personalities. Which is why I almost cried during a Robin Thicke song. We are dreamers, we are fish, we want to live one way but we have to be in the water, so we just dream about the possibilities.

Beautiful.
